Welcome fellow sojourners
of chaos, grace, and joy!

Hi, I’m Laura—United Methodist pastor, spouse, mom, and maker—living at the crossroads of chaos, joy, and grace. This little corner of the internet, Parson’s Pretties, is where I share stories from my life in ministry, parenting, and everyday sacredness.

You’ll find reflections here on faith, love, raising neurodiverse kids, and navigating the wild ride of church life. I’ll also occasionally nerd out over my favorite hobbies: knitting, sewing, reading, and creating beauty with my hands when the world feels like too much.

Why "Parsons Pretties"?

Years ago, I was asked to provide some handmade goods for a local women’s bazaar. As someone admired the items, they exclaimed, “Oh, these must be the Parson’s pretties!”

The name stuck—and has lovingly adorned my creative projects and gifts ever since.

As a parent of two amazing children with unique needs, I’m constantly discovering how God shows up in the mess. Parenting has taught me both the necessity of quiet devotional time and the flexibility to meet the Sacred in unexpected places: while knitting, while cooking, while driving to therapy, while sitting on a park bench with a book and a lukewarm coffee.

Here, life isn’t perfect—but it is holy.

A New Chapter: 50 Before 50

This year, I’m embarking on a personal journey I call 50 Before 50—a list of 50 things I’m doing before I turn 50. It’s a soul investment in my own growth, delight, and healing after years of pouring into others. Through this series, I’m reclaiming my identity outside of my roles and rediscovering joy, creativity, and purpose along the way. You can follow that journey here on the blog—one honest, imperfect step at a time.

My prayer for this space is that it becomes a window into what it means to be a pastor, a parent, and a person trying to live faithfully in a chaotic world. May you find here a bit of laughter, a bit of beauty, and a reminder that grace can be stitched into even the most ordinary days.
